I. The great mystery of Christ. V. 16a. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness :

III. The justification of Christ: V. 16c . justified in the Spirit , 1. This is a rather obscure expression. But it seems to describe our Lord's spotless righteousness, perhaps with special reference to the declaration of it at His baptism. “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Spence
