| An Apologetic of the
Resurrection of Jesus Christ
Meaning: A verbal defense. It was used by the Greeks in a legal sense, as a demand or appeal.
Title: Christ' resurrection is directly tied to eternal life
Text: John 11:25-27 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.”
From the perspective of man's conscience the whole of mankind was aware of their sinfulness (Romans 1). The known world at the time of Christ and leading up to that time were looking for a Messiah since the fall (Genesis 3).
The coming Messiah was foretold again in Isaiah 4. Christ's crucifixion was also foretold 600 years previous in Isaiah 53:11,12. The second resurrection is mentioned in Isaiah 26:19 “ Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.”
So we see that God made a promise to send a Messiah and He did. The book of Isaiah made prophecies about Christ suffering and they came true. Mankind has a guilty conscience and provision was made for forgiveness. Martha in verse 24 states that she believed in Christ and His resurrection. Peter declares his belief in Christ in Matthew 16:16. God's people through out history have understood and received this connection between the resurrection and eternal life. Will you believe and receive Christ and His resurrection?
